Using Our God Given Gifts

Paul was writing to Timothy when he penned the words, “I remind you to fan into flame the gift of God which is in you through the laying on of my hands.” Paul knew that God had given Timothy a gift to be used
for the growth of the Kingdom, and he wanted to be sure Timothy used that gift effectively.

Scripture tells us that, like Timothy, we have all received gifts from God. He’s given each of us certain strengths and abilities to be used to help the Kingdom of God grow. 1 Peter 4:10 says, “As each has
received a gift, use it to serve one another, as good stewards of God’s varied grace.” Whether you realize it or not, each of us has received a gift!

What gift(s) has God given you? That’s a question we need to ask often. Maybe you’re gifted at making people feel welcome. Maybe your gift is a deep understanding of God’s word. It could be teaching
kids, empathizing with people, listening well, sharing the gospel, or a host of other things. You have a gift, what is it?

The next question we need to ask is “How am I using my gift(s)?” or maybe “How could I put my gift(s) to better use?” God gave us all gifts for a reason, to build his kingdom. So, lets use them the best we
can! Let’s do like Paul told Timothy and fan our gifts into flame.
