One of the fears most Christians face at one time or another is the fear that they’re not really saved. Often this fear surfaces right after we sin. We drop the ball, and we’re convicted of our sin, and we think to ourselves, “Christians don’t act like that.” And soon after comes the question, “Am I really a Christian?” We so easily become uncertain about where we stand before God, and we can find ourselves entertaining the thought that when we stand before God, he might turn us away.
Would you believe me if I told you that you don’t have to go through this life uncertain about your standing before God, wondering what he’ll say when you stand before him? That’s exactly what Scripture tells us.
Look at what Paul said in Romans 8:11: “If the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, he who raised Christ Jesus from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through his Spirit who dwells in you.”
What a beautiful promise! If the Holy Spirit lives in you, you can rest assured that you have eternal life! You don’t have to go through life wondering whether you’ll make the cut when you stand before God. His
Spirit will give you life. You’ll rise up like Jesus did to experience eternity in the presence of the Father.
So, does the Holy Spirit live in you? If so, eternal life is as sure as the sunrise. If not, he wants to!
