It’s hard to believe another year has come and gone, and now it’s 2022! But as we enter 2022 many of us find ourselves thinking back on 2021 and making decisions about what we’ll do differently in the new year. Many of us have made some kind of New Year’s resolution. Maybe it’s to spend more time with family, and less time at work. Maybe its to manage your money differently or save up for something. Probably the most common resolution people make is to eat healthier and exercise more.
While these are all good goals to have, there’s another goal I believe all Christians should aim for this year. I like what Paul writes to Timothy in 1 Timothy 4:8. “[While] bodily training is of some value, godliness is of value in every way, as it holds promise for the present life and also for the life to come. “
The normal resolutions people usually make are certainly beneficial if we stick to them. But, to grow in godliness is of immeasurably more value. It effects our eternity, not just our present. Godliness is an attribute every Christian should strive to grow in this year.
And how do you become a godlier person? You spend time with the God you want to be more like. You deepen your relationship with God by spending time with him in the word and in prayer, then watch what he does in you! Just imagine what would happen if every Christian did both of those things every day in 2022!
