I just don’t know enough about the Bible. I’m just not that outgoing. I haven’t been a Christian long enough. What if I mess up? It’s too difficult for me. God could never use a sinner like me.
Have you ever found yourself saying any of those? You know, we are really good at finding reasons to remain passive in our faith. We could probably all come up with a long list of reasons not to go out and actually do the things God has called us to do, things like sharing our faith, serving, and loving the lost. Most of our reasons come down to a lie we’ve believed that there’s no room in God’s plan for people like us.
Nothing could be further from the truth. God wants to use you to accomplish his will! He has planned to use you in that work since the beginning! And what’s more, he has given you the gifts and abilities you need to be able to live out your part in his plan. Look at what Paul wrote in Romans 12:
“Having gifts that differ according to the grace given to us, let us use them: if prophecy, in proportion to our faith; if service, in our serving; the one who teaches, in his teaching; the one who exhorts, in his exhortation; the one who contributes, in generosity; the one who leads, with zeal; the one who does acts of mercy, with cheerfulness.” –Romans 12:6-8
