Good & Faithful Servant

– “Well done, good and faithful servant.”

Those are the words we all long to hear when we come to the end of our lives, right? What a joy it will be to cross the finish line of this life and hear those words from the mouth our creator! From this one simple sentence, spoken by Jesus in the middle of a parable in Matthew 25, we see how important it is for us to be faithful servants of our God.

The problem we face today is that, in our culture, faithfulness isn’t seen as all that important. If someone makes a vow and it becomes inconvenient to keep it, they break the vow. If they give their word and
something better comes along, they go back on it. This lack of faithfulness is something we see around us all the time. It has destroyed marriages, torn families apart, toppled businesses, and ruined many
reputations. You don’t have to look far to realize that faithfulness is not usually a high priority in our society.

But as followers of Jesus, we’re called to be different. We’re called to be faithful, to stand by our word,
to stand for our faith, and to be faithful to one another.

If we want to hear those beautiful words, Well done, good and faithful servant, we need to live each day like that’s our goal.

What will God say to you when you stand before him? Will he call you faithful?
