What does it look like to live the Christian life? Ask 100 Christians this question and you’ll probably get 100 different answers. Some would say a Christian is someone who goes to church every Sunday. Others might say Christians are people who read the Bible. Still others would say Christians are people who believe in Jesus. And while these are good things, and certainly are important aspects of the Christian life, there is more to the life we’re called to.
The life of the Christian is one that should be continually transformed through relationship with Jesus. Transformation is key. The faith we hold isn’t just a set of rules and ideas we think are right. The Christian faith should change everything about how we live. That means we should be becoming people who don’t just believe what the word says, but people who do what the word says.
James 1: 22 says, “But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves.” And later in 2:17 James writes, “So also faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead.”
It is so important for us to live out our faith! We must move beyond believing that what the Bible says is true and follow that belief up with action. What is one way you can live out your faith this week and do what the word says?
