Last week’s sermon focused on the danger of elevating our will above God’s. God wants us to humble ourselves enough to submit to his will rather than our own. That’s a difficult thing to do. It can be very difficult to let go of our own will and submit to His. But, Scripture is clear that there is a reward for doing so.
Peter writes, “Humble yourselves, therefore, under the mighty hand of God so that at the proper time he may exalt you, casting all your anxie ties on him, because he cares for you.” -1 Peter 5:6-7
This is such a comforting verse. If we’ll humble ourselves before God, hard as that may be, he has promised to exalt us at the proper time! It will all be worth it in the end! But, in the meantime as we go through this life and all it’s anxieties, we know that we serve a God who cares for us! And he wants to handle the things that make us anxious.
You know, this life seems to come with a lot of anxieties. Especially right now, people are anxious about so many things. The economy, the war in Ukraine, gas prices, and the pandemic are only the top of a very long list
of reasons we’re anxious. But as Christians we serve a God who wants us to cast our anxieties on him!
Church, when this life feels like too much to bear, and you’re feeling anxious, know that God can handle your anxieties. Cast them all on him!
