Build One Another Up

In the book of Hebrews we find an incredible description of what Jesus accomplished for us. We also find some wonderful encouragement to be assured of our Salvation. And in light of those two things the author of Hebrews challenges Christians to live out their faith in some very practical ways. One of these challenges comes in Hebrews 10:24-25.

“And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near.”

Unfortunately, there are many Christians who rarely engage in acts of love and good works, let alone encourage other Christians toward love and good works. So many have the notion that their faith is just about thinking what the Bible says about Jesus is true. But the Bible’s message about Jesus should produce within us a love for other people that leads to good works. It’s the natural fruit of true faith in Jesus. But we also have a responsibility to encourage fellow Christians to do good works and to show love to the world around us. This is a key aspect of the Christian life.

So, how has God called you to show love to the world around you? What good works has he called you to? Think about your answer this week, and then think about how you can encourage others to join you in loving people!
