Bring It to God

People in our world today are anxious about a lot of things, and the Church is no exception. You might be anxious about what experts are saying about the economy. Maybe you’re anxious about all the doom and gloom stories in the news right now. Some of us are anxious about things going on in our personal lives: big life changes, health issues, financial problems, and emotional struggles. We all probably have something in our lives causing our anxiety to rise. This is where prayer comes in.

Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplica- tion with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. – Philippians 4:6

Paul’s answer to our anxiety about life’s struggles is simply to bring those struggles to God. Many of us try to get through life’s difficulties on our own, but we know how difficult that is. God wants to help us, and he wants us to share our struggles with him.And we can do so knowing he will hear us. That’s what John says in his 1st epistle.

And this is the confidence that we have toward him, that if we ask anything according to his will he hears us. – 1 John 5:14

Whatever is making you anxious, bring it to God. Confide in him and make your requests known to him, ask according to his will, and the promise is that he will hear you. There’s no better ear to bend when life gets hard than the ear of the one who created you!
