But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for his own possession, that you may proclaim the excellencies of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light. – 1 Peter 2:9.

Are you a Christian? Have you placed your trust in Jesus for your salvation? I hope your answer is yes. And if it is, then you need to know that in this verse Peter is talking about you. This verse isn’t just for pastors. It’s not just talking about elders, church leaders, or super-Christians who have it all figured out. Peter is talking about you. 

God has called you out of the darkness of this world and into his marvelous light, the light of eternal life in him. And now his desire is to work through you to do the same for those around you who are still trapped in the darkness. Our purpose, our mission in this world as his royal priesthood, is to make God known and push back the darkness!

We see countless people every single day who are trapped in the darkness of this world. Innumerable people in your circle still don’t know him. And guess what, he has chosen you to do something about it. So don’t just walk past them like nothing’s wrong. Proclaim the excellencies of our God to them, and watch him call them out of darkness and into his marvelous light, like he did for you!
