Elders

Gary Clasby
Born in Los Angeles, California. Parents and grandparents were active members in the church of Christ. Grew up in Modesto, California. Graduated from California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo, California with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering. Met and married Cal Poly student, Nancy Smith. Gary and Nancy have five children: Tari Kennamer in Cincinnati, OH; Richard Clasby inMuncie, IN; Lawrence Clasby in Dallas, TX; Audra Southall in Tucson, AZ; and Corey Clasby in Columbus, OH. They have twelve grandchildren. Gary has been employed through the years in Milwaukee, Cincinnati, Los Angeles, Denver, Salt Lake City, and Dayton and has served as both deacon and as elder of the church.

Wayne Hampton
Wayne's family was one of the original families that began meeting here in Belmont. His grandfather helped build the original building in 1956. His father helped build the newer part of our facility in 1964. He met his wife, Connie, here when they were in elementary school. They both attended Lipscomb University and were married after college. Connie is a retired RN and Wayne is a retired elementary school teacher. He now keeps himself busy with a lawnscape business. They have two children, Ami and Joe. Both are now married and still attend Belmont. Ami and her husband Mike have a girl and a boy. Joe and his wife Christine have two boys. Wayne and Connie feel very fortunate to be able to spend lots of fun times with their family. Wayne says he considers it an honor and blessing to serve the loving church family here at Belmont.

Deacons

Shane Bowen – Outreach/Missions (also currently serving as Interim Minister)
Shane Bowen and his wife, Kristy, are originally from Anderson, Indiana where they met in the summer of 1988. They both went to college at Purdue University in West Lafayette, Indiana and were married while still students there on December 21, 1991. Kristy received her degree in Commercial Interior Design in 1992. Shane received his bachelors’ degree in Electrical Engineering in 1994. They moved to the metro Detroit area where Shane worked as an engineer for Borg Warner Automotive. During the nine years that they lived there, their daughters, Sarah and Laura, were born. In 2003, they moved to the Dayton area where Shane worked for PMG Corporation until recently. Kristy in actively involved with the local school system as well as all the work she does here at Belmont. Shane has been a Deacon here at Belmont since 2005 and is now filling in as the Interim Minister.

Bill Pittman – Building and Grounds
Billy (Bill) G. Pittman was born in Sullivan County, Indiana on March 18, 1929 to Harold and Rachel Pittman. He was the middle of three sons from that marriage. He spent his early years in Indiana, then moved to Ohio in 1943 and graduated from Troy High School in Troy, Ohio in 1947. He attended Rose Hulman Institute of Technology in Terre Haute, Indiana and graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering in 1950. Bill met his wife, Betty, at Troy High and they were married on September 15, 1950. To that marriage was born two sons and a daughter (all living). Those children are raising their eight grandchildren. After college, Bill was employed by the Hanna Coal Company in St. Clairesville, Ohio until 1954. Late in 1954, Bill and Betty moved to Beavercreek when Bill took a job with Danis Industries Corp. He retired from Danis in 1991 after serving some 36 years as President and General Manager of the Highway Construction Group. Subsequent to retiring from Danis, Bill formed Pittman Construction Co. and spent six years working in residential construction. Bill and Betty have been members of Belmont Church of Christ in Dayton, Ohio since 1954. Bill has served as deacon for many years in charge of Building and Grounds.
